Saturday and Sunday, November 3-4, 1-4pm
This two day intensive will delve deeper into the different approaches, tools and techniques of working in encaustic with extended work time and seek feedback.
This workshop is perfect for beginners and experienced artists ages 15+. All skill levels are welcome; Paint, tools, small boards and equipment included and participants will have plenty of hands on time to work with the materials provided.
The first day will cover the basics (safety, history, board prep, layering, fusing, incising) then branch out into multiple diverse techniques available to encaustic painting. Some of these may include masking/stencils, incorporated drawing, image transfers, collage and embedded objects as well as many more options. Day two will expand on mixed media techniques and allow time for you to work with the techniques covered on Day 1 of the Intensive as well.
Feel free to bring any original images/photos printed on LASER printer or xerox style copier, interesting metal tools/objects to heat and stamp with or anything else you might like to experiment with. If you would like to work larger, feel free to bring wood panels of your choice.
3-6 students per class, 3 person minimum registration or class will be rescheduled. Contact Kelly for further details, scheduling, or with questions.
