Earth & Ash: Ireland: Abstract

Encaustic paintings on cradled panel, built with peat ash from endangered boglands, water from St. Brigid's holy well, and beeswax. Layered, carved, and fused with open flame, antique irons, and sun. The surfaces hold something older — bogland, ancient tools, standing stones, the quiet symbology of a place named for a goddess. Gold and copper run through the work — what gets called precious, and what gets sacrificed.
